Bangladesh captain Mashrafe Mortaza was elated after his team got the better of New Zealand on Friday in the Champions Trophy

Bangladesh captain Mashrafe Mortaza was elated after his team got the better of New Zealand on Friday in the Champions Trophy. Chasing 266, Bangladesh were in deep trouble at 33 for 4, but recovered brilliantly thanks to a record stand between centurions Shakib-al Hasan and Mahmudullah, as Bangladesh won by five wickets.
"It's really a great feeling. On both occasions, I've been here - first, against Australia in 2005 and now against New Zealand. So, overall, we are very much satisfied," Mortaza said at the post-match presentation.
Praising Shakib and Mahmudullah, he added, "Shakib and Mahmudullah were phenomenal. The way they batted, it was simply out of the world for me. Mahmudullah reminded us of the two hundreds he scored in the 2015 World Cup (against England and New Zealand). So, both of them were simply amazing.”
"We knew it was going to be difficult because conditions weren't that easy. But we gained confidence when we beat them in Ireland in the tri-series. We knew this could happen, so we just told ourselves we need to play hard and should never give up.
"Having done our job, we do feel great right now,” a pleased Mortaza said.
