South Africa defeated hosts Zimbabwe by 6 wickets with 14 balls to spare in the 6th Match of the Unofficial Tri-Series at Harare. With this handsome win, the Proteas edged out Bangladesh to qualify for the Final tomorrow against Zimbabwe.
It was a low-scoring affair today at the Harare Sports Club as the Proteas restricted Zimbabwe to 124 for 6. The top scorers for Zimbabwe were again opener Hamilton Masakadza (36 from 30 balls with 4 fours and a six) and Graeme Cremer (36* from 27 balls with 4 fours). Wayne Parnell was the hero of the Proteas’ bowling with figures of 4-1-16-3.
The run chase for the Proteas was made to look easy because of a dazzling knock of 54 (from 30 balls with 4 fours and 4 sixes) from opener Richard Levi. South Africa cruised to a six-wicket win reaching the target in 17.4 overs. Parnell got the Player of the Match award.
